Mustangs 3rd in Div. III District race, advance to regionals

In one of two different Division III SE District cross-country races, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs and Whiteoak Wildcats raced, where LC placed third with a team time of 1:35:48.66, advancing to the regional championships at the University of Rio Grande.

WHS didn't field a full team.

"This was a big day for our program," LC coach Garyn Waits said. "This is the first time in over a decade the team has reached the regional round. I'm proud of this effort."

The top finisher for the Mustangs was Quinn Stoltz in 11th with a time of 18:40. Noah Stoltz followed in 14th at 18:43, and Gage Waits was 15th at 18:45. Aaron Collins (LC) was 18th at 19:20.

Also running for LC were: Ryan Inman (20:18), Marc Blankenship (21:04) and Aaron Little (22:05).

For WHS, Cody Feck finished at 20:15 in 32nd and Tyler Roberts had a time of 21:07.

Winning this Div. III race was Belpre with a team time of 1:32:28.87 for a low score of 39. They were followed by: 2, Wheelersburg (47); 3, Lynchburg-Clay (78); 4, Eastern Brown (88); 5, Western (101); 6, Ironton (146) and 7, Nelsonville-York (178).

In the girls race, LC placed ninth (236) as Reedsville Eastern won the district title with a low score of 25. Following Reedsville in order were: 2, Trimble (82); 3,  Manchester (83); 4, Whiteoak (104); 5, Southeastern (151); 6, Wheelersburg (167), 7, Oak Hill (175); 8, Paint Valley (191); 9, Lynchburg-Clay (219); 10, Lucasville Valley (236) and 11, Huntington (252).

For the LC girls results were:  Laney Lewis in 32nd with a time of 24:14; followed by Danielle Coleman (26:33), Ginny Gadzinski (29:32), Emily Roush (30:33) and Alyssa Greene (34:46).
