Miss Perfect: Kiley Sosby pitches 3rd perfect game of season

Whiteoak senior Kiley Sosby is getting the knack for pitching perfect games this season … maybe she should go by Miss Perfect.

Sosby went five strong innings Tuesday at Manchester High School, allowing no hits and walking none in a 12-0 run-rule win by the Lady 'Cats over the host Lady Greyhounds.

The Whiteoak starter finished with 13 strikeouts in the win.

Sosby began the game by striking out the first four batters she faced, followed by a groundout to third base after the first two innings.

In the third and fourth innings, the senior ace struck out a combined six consecutive batters, and in the fifth and final inning, she struck out two of the three final batters she faced. The second out in the fifth was off a pop up to the catcher Jayde Parr, who has caught all three perfect games of Sosby this season.

This is the fourth perfect game of Sosby's high school career, pitching one her junior year in 2014.

On Tuesday, Sosby threw just 58 pitches against the 15 batters she faced, 47 for strikes. Of her aforementioned 13 strikeouts, six were called third strikes.

In her three perfect games this season (others against West Union and Miami Trace), Sosby has a combined 42 strikeouts. Including her perfect game from '14, Sosby has struck out 53 batters when she's pitching perfect.

As for the Lady 'Cats' offense, it was just as good, including two home runs for both Sosby and Jaycie Parr, the first two batters in the order. Sosby went 2-for-2 with four runs and three RBIs, and Parr was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and four RBIs. Parr and Sosby each drew a walk. Parr's home runs were the first and second home runs of her career.

Going a perfect 4-for-4 was Chelsea Chisman, who also batted in two runners. Ashleigh Harless finished 3-for-4 with three runs.

Also with two hits was Jayde Parr (three RBIs), and Caitlyn Arledge and Ashlyn Moore each had one hit, with Moore tallying one RBI.

In all, the Lady 'Cats collected 12 runs, 15 hits and 12 RBIs.
