Lynchburg-Clay boys, Hillsboro girls win bowling matches

The Lynchburg-Clay boys and Hillsboro girls bowling teams led the way in a five-team bowling match Monday at the Highland Lanes Bowling Center in Hillsboro.

For the boys competition, the Lynchburg-Clay boys team bowled their highest total in the five years of the program’s existence. All five starters for the Mustangs averaged over 200 for the two regular games.

LC sophomore Jonah Fenner had a 417, while seniors Brayden Sellman and Noah Fenner each had a score of 414. Daulton Feiss finished with a score of 421, and Eli Hollingsworth had a 433.

The boys final scores for the match were: Lynchburg-Clay (2,633), Hillsboro (2,247), Wilmington (1,968), Whiteoak (1,902) and Fairfield (1,725). This was the first match ever for Whiteoak and Fairfield as a high school bowling team.

The varsity girls game finished with Hillsboro in first with a total of 2,327. Next was Lynchburg-Clay (1,874), followed by Wilmington, Whiteoak and Fairfield.

Leading scores for the Lady Mustangs were senior Taylor McLaughlin (298) and sophomore Morghan Sellman (384).

The Mustangs will bowl their next match on Monday at Sunset Bowl against newcomers to high school bowling Eastern and Fairfield.

Individual stats for Hillsboro, Fairfield and Whiteoak boys and girls bowling teams were not submitted. Results can be submitted to Highland County Press sports editor Stephen Forsha at sforsha@gmail.com.
