Lady Indians win in Greenfield

GREENFIELD — Racing different events and getting a feel for the varsity events as they ran them didn't affect the Hillsboro Lady Indians at all on Tuesday, as they defeated three other schools to earn the top spot at McClain Field.
The Lady Indians of Hillsboro scored 212 points overall for the win, as they are still working on which events to place each competitor as a team. In second was McClain with 59 points, and in third was Whiteoak with 35 points, Rounding out the scoring was Madison-Plains with 21 points.
HHS won 12 of the 17 events that took place Tuesday in Greenfield.
"This was a lot of trying to get a feel of what the team can be and see what younger kids can compete at this level," HHS girls coach Sarah Horsley said. "We cleared up some things on the relays.
"We have a much better picture of the team (Tuesday) and what we are capable of."
Ali Goolsby (HHS) won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.05 and the 300m hurdles with a time of 53.27.
Alissa Hauke (HHS) paced her way to a first-place finish in the 1600m run at 6:14.61.
Madison Colliver also had a first-place finish for HHS, winning the 800m run at 2:50.14, and won the 3200m run with a top time of 13.32.

Megan Overberg (HHS) won in the 200m dash at 27.77 for the Lady Indians, and teammate Reaghan Haines won the pole vault event with a height of 6-0.
In the relay events, the Lady Indians won the 4x800m at 13:18.47, the 4x100m at 55.46 and the 4x400 as they were the only girls team to race the event.
As for the Lady Tigers, Tara Karnes had two top spots, winning the discus with a throw of 95-4 and the shot put at 37-0.
Abby Storts was the winner of the high jump at 4-10, while MHS teammate Jhaela Coleman raced to a first-place finish in the 100m dash at 13.01. The MHS 4x200m relay team won with a time of 2:00.52.
Other results included for MHS, HHS and WHS (Top 3) included McKenzie Figgins in second in the 100m hurdles at 18.02, followed in third by Taylor Stanforth at 18.11.
In the 100m dash, in third was Clarissa Johnson at 13.36 of WHS, while LeAnna Lomske was second in the 1600m run for the Lady 'Cats at 6:38.9. In third was Ceairra Neal (HHS) at 6:39.92.
Bree Opst (HHS) was second in the 800m run (2:52.40), and in third was Lomske at 2:56.06.
In the 400m, LeAnna Lomske was second at 1:13.17, and in third was Jessica Lerch (HHS) with a time of 1:15.05. Coleman was second in the 200m dash at 28.30. Clarissa Johnson (WHS) was second in the 300m hurdles at 54.48, followed by Figgins in third at 57.81.
Haines was second in the 3200m run for HHS at 13:32, and Allyson Boone was third at 16:56, also for HHS.
Opst was second in the pole vault at 6-0. In the discus, Hillsboro's Kristina Stanfield was second place at 71-8, and in third was Madison Lambcke at 70-7. Stanforth was second in the high jump at 4-8, and in third was Briana Aleshire at 4-6.
