Lady 'Cats defeat Paint Valley; drop 2 SHAC games
In three recent games for the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats, they've gone 1-2, including a Saturday home, non-conference win against the Paint Valley Bearcats.
The two losses came on Jan. 29 at Peebles and on Feb. 2 at Manchester.
WHS is 0-11 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference and 3-16 overall.
The Saturday win by WHS saw them fall to a 13-7 deficit after the first quarter but come back with 19 points in the second. Though they scored the 19 points, they still trailed at the half after allowing 14 points in second.
WHS trailed 27-26 at the half.
In the third and fourth quarters, WHS outscored the visiting Lady Bearcats, 10-4, and in the fourth, the Lady Wildcats again won the quarter, and the game, with a 13-9 final frame.
Leading WHS was Emma Wardlow with 20 points, followed by Maggie Carr with 13 points.
Sunnie Lehr, Alexis Jones and Michaela Luman each scored four points, while teammates Emily Stratton and Courtney Cummings scored two points apiece.

On Jan. 29, WHS lost at Peebles, 45-38. In that game, WHS trailed 27-17 at halftime, and in the second half, they outscored PHS, 21-18, including a six-point third frame and 15 points in the fourth.
In that same span, the Lady Indians of PHS scored eight points in the third and 10 points in the fourth.
Emily Edingfield and Michaela Luman each led WHS with eight points. Wardlow followed with six points, and Lehr scored five. Also in the scoring column for the Lady Wildcats were Ashleigh Harless with three points, while Jayde Parr, Cummings, Jones and Katie Holaday each scored two points.
Monday, Feb. 2 saw WHS battle strong, but they came up a few points short of a win, losing to the Manchester Lady Greyhounds by a 55-53 score at MHS.
In the first, it was the Lady 'Cats who led after eight complete minutes at 18-11 on the road, but they scored just half that amount in the second quarter, as they were outscored, 11-9 by host MHS for a 27-22 WHS lead at the half.
The next two quarters saw WHS score in double figures in each, but they were unable to win either the third or fourth frames. In the third, WHS was outscored, 19-13, and in the fourth, Manchester won the frame, 14-13 to earn the two-point win over WHS.
Wardlow led WHS with 23 points, followed by Lehr and Carr with 11 points each.
Cummings scored four points in the loss, and rounding out the scoring were Stratton and Luman with two points each.
