Lady 'Cats defeat Lady Mustangs

MOWRYSTOWN - The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats scored runs for five straight innings, allowing them to gain a Southern Hills League win over the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs 12-2 Tuesday night.
Whiteoak started off the game with two runs in their half of the first with Sarah Smith forcing a one out walk. With two outs, Amber Frazer forced the second walk of the inning, followed with Juanita Nichols drawing a base on balls.
Hailey Bingamon singled, allowing both runners to cross home plate in Smith and Frazer.
The Lady Mustangs threatened in the top of the second, gaining five base runners, but just one player, Rebekah Ramsey, scored a run. Ramsey forced a walk in the inning. Courtney Covert hit a single later in the inning for the Lady Mustangs.
In the bottom of the second, WHS responded with four runs to take a 6-1 advantage.
Blair Maynard began with a base hit, followed with a walk by Taryn Christy. Kari Fannin singled, as did Smith. Ashley Nichols doubled in runners, and Frazer forced a walk. Scoring in the inning were Christy, Fannin, Smith and Nichols.
The third inning had WHS adding three more runs to take a lead of eight runs.
With one out, Christy doubled and Fanning brought her home with a base hit. Down to their last out of the inning Ashley Nichols singled and Frazer forced another walk. Scoring were Christy, Fannin and Nichols.
The WHS lead turned into 10-1 with Bingamon scoring. She reached the bases on a single. Christy also forced a two-out walk later in the inning.
LC came back in the fifth with one run. The run came with Emily Meyers singling. Pinch runner Sara Martin came in and scored later in the inning.
The game's final two runs came with Smith and Ashley Nichols rounding the bases. Smith reached with a single, and Nichols had a double. Nichols was 3-for-4 at the plate.
Juanita Nichols gained the win in the circle for WHS. She pitched all five innings, allowing just two hits and walking four. She allowed two runs (one earned) and had seven strikeouts.
