Lady 'Cats clinch share of SHAC Div. II championship

The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats clinched no less than a share of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference Division II championship with a 15-1 run-rule win over the Manchester Lady Greyhounds, Tuesday.
With the win, the Lady 'Cats move to 11-1 in SHAC play with one game left on their schedule, a meeting with Highland County rival Lynchburg-Clay on Thursday at 5 p.m.
A win by WHS will clinch the outright Division II conference crown, but a loss on Thursday will force them to share the SHAC title with Fairfield, who wrapped up their conference schedule with an 11-2 record.
In their win on Tuesday, the Lady 'Cats scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning on their home field, followed by one run apiece in the second and third innings. In the fourth, the Lady 'Cats added five more runs to their total for the run-rule victory.
[[In-content Ad]]WHS totaled 16 hits and five RBIs in the victory, with Chelsea Chisman and Kiley Sosby each leading with three hits. Chisman was 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Sosby finished 3-for-3 with three runs and five RBIs. The senior also hit a home run.
With two hits each were Ashleigh Harless and Hayley Nace, as Harless scored two runs, while adding an RBI. Nace was 2-for-3 with two runs.
Having one hit each were Jaycie Parr, Meghan Dodds, Alexis Jones, Jayde Parr, Caitlyn Arledge and Misty McClure.
Jones also tallied two RBIs, while Jaycie Parr, Dodds and Jayde Parr each had one RBI.
The win went to Sosby, who held the Lady Greyhounds to one hit. In the five innings in the circle, Sosby faced 17 batters, allowing one hit, no runs and no walks. The senior threw a total of 59 pitches.
Manchester scored their lone run in the second inning.
