In a very close Southern Hills Athletic Conference race, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats finished as runner-ups in the SHAC.

This is Whiteoak's second consecutive runner-up finish with Manchester being back-to-back champions.

Leading the way for Whiteoak was sophomore Morgan Thompson finishing fifth (22:21) and Taylor Tackett in 10th (23:11).

The top 15 in the race earn All-SHAC. Thompson and Tackett also earned the honor last year.

Coach Doug Hughes was very pleased with his team's performance.

"I knew it was going to be very tight between second through fourth places," he said. "Manchester was the huge favorite, but we gave it a great run. Each of our scoring runners ran great and our depth with good sixth and seventh runners has helped us all year.

"There could very well be four teams from our league make it through to the regionals. Cross-country is very strong across the SHAC and we are happy to be right in the mix of it."
