Kiley Sosby named first-team All-Ohio for 2nd straight season

Whiteoak junior Kiley Sosby is back on the Ohio High School Fast Pitch Softball Coaches Association All-Ohio list for the second consecutive season.

For the second straight year, Sosby was named first-team All-Ohio in Division IV for yet another outstanding high school softball campaign.

The WHS junior pitched in all 23 games for the Lady Wildcats, finishing with an overall record of 15-8 on the season. In those games, which equaled 153.2 innings in the circle, Sosby finished with 311 strikeouts for the year, as that is a 13.5 strikeout average per game.

Her ERA this season was 0.82, compared to her 2013 first-team All-Ohio season, where her ERA was 3.05.

In her three years in high school softball thus far, Sosby is not only a two-time All-Ohio selection, but has been twice voted the Division IV SE District Player of the Year.

Also for her '14 season with WHS, Sosby threw 1,962 pitches, with 1,599 being strikes. She faced 586 batters, and of the 53 runs scored on Sosby, just 18 were earned.

She walked just five batters and allowed one home run this season.


[[In-content Ad]]In 83 plate appearances this past season, Sosby forced 17 walks, limiting her to 59 official at-bats. In those ensuing at-bats, the junior batted .576 with 34 hits, including eight doubles, three triples and a team-high eight home runs. These hits turned into 21 RBIs, and she struck out on just four occasions.

She was hit by a pitch on seven instances but did score a team-high 30 runs as well. Sosby also had three steals.

Even her slugging percentage was off the charts at 1.22 with an on-base percentage of .699. She had 10 hits with runners in scoring position, as she had 19 occasions to bat with runners on second or third base. Her batting average with those runners on the bases was .526.

In her first All-Ohio year of 2013 (her sophomore year), Sosby pitched 155.2 innings, finishing with a season high of 264 strikeouts.

For her high school career, Sosby has (unofficially) 877 strikeouts.
