Highland County players gain coaches' All-District honors

With four first-team players in three divisions and nine total players honored, Highland County was well represented on the 2012-13 District 14 Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association all-district list in girls basketball.
In Division II, two sophomores earned first-team honors with Hillsboro's Kaylynn Bell and McClain's Shania Massie.
This season, Massie scored 380 points, with a 16.5 points per game average. Bell averaged 15.5 ppg with 371 points total.
For Division III, Lynchburg-Clay senior Laney Lewis earned first-team honors, and in Division IV, Fairfield junior Heather Cox was named to the first-team. Lewis averaged 19.2 ppg and 11.4 rebounds per game this year. Cox totaled 20 ppg and 14.5 rpg.
As for other Highland County players, Hillsboro sophomore Trista Rhodes and McClain junior Tara Karnes were named honorable mention. In Division III, LC senior Emma Setty earned honorable mention honors, and in Division IV, Fairfield sophomore Kaitlin Evans and Whiteoak freshman Emma Wardlow earned honorable mention honors.

District 14 Coaches Association Players of the Year were Deidre McKay of Miami Trace in Division II, Jenny Grigsby of Adena in Division III and Jen Arnzen of Notre Dame in Division IV.
The Division II Coach of the Year was Miami Trace's Ben Ackley, in Division III it was Jeran Cox of Adena and J.D. McKenzie of Notre Dame was Coach of the Year in Division IV.
Players from the SCOL named to the District 14 Division II team were McKay (first-team), Abby Schwenk (MT, second-team), Molli Shaw (WCH, second-team), Carleigh Chaffins (WCH, second-team), Ariana Mabra (MT, honorable mention) and Paige McRoberts (WCH, honorable mention).
From the SHAC, Division III players included: Emily Fite (North Adams, first-team), Maria Johnson (Eastern Brown, honorable mention), Baylee Wallace (Peebles, honorable mention) and Natasha Barr (West Union, honorable mention).
