Evan Brill throws no-hitter for Whiteoak

The Whiteoak Wildcats defeated the Western Latham Indians by a 10-0 score in five innings on Monday night at WHS, but the offense wasn’t the story of the game ... rather, it was the pitching of the home team, as freshman Evan Brill tossed a no-hitter in the non-conference win.
Brill was nearly perfect in the Monday outing, as he not only allowed no hits, but he walked just two batters and struck out nine as the Wildcats gained the shutout win, with Brill improving his pitching record to 2-0 along the way.
“What an accomplishment for anyone, especially a freshman,” WHS head coach Chris Veidt said of Brill’s no-hitter. “This was a big win for us on senior day, as we were solid all the way around.”
At the plate, the Wildcats had two players with two hits each in Trever Yeager and Chase Carraher. Yeager was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, with one of his hits being a double. Carraher went 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Jacob Burns was 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Trevor Martin finished 1-for-2 with four RBIs. Brill was 1-for-3 with one RBI, and Christian Hill was 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

WHS scored one run in the first, followed by a six-run second inning and three more runs in the third to complete their 10-run total for the day.
“Our quality at-bat percentage was .724, and it’s not like Western was kicking it around,” Veidt said. “We met all of our offensive and defensive team goals.
“Our infield and outfield defense was exceptional, and Trever Yeager was very impressive at the plate. Trevor Martin was very situational for us with four key RBIs.”
The win moved the Wildcats to a 10-8 overall record on the season. Their game with Fairfield on Tuesday was postponed due to inclement weather.
