The last time the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats won a Division IV SE District championships was 2004, but they can put all of that in the rearview mirror on Saturday as they play for their first district title since that season.

Whiteoak's 2015 team enters the game with a 22-2 overall record, not allowing a run thus far in two postseason games, by defeating Western Latham by an 10-0 score and in the district semifinals defeating the Racine Southern Tornadoes, 8-0.

This time the Lady Wildcats (12-1 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference) will be facing the No. 4 seeded Clay Lady Panthers of Portsmouth, who enter the game with 17 wins and a common opponent in North Adams, who Clay defeated this postseason, 4-3 for their sectional championship. WHS in mid-April defeated North Adams, 4-1.

Clay (11-3 in the SOC) also defeated Eastern (Reedsville) 7-5 in the district semifinal round, totaling 11 hits in the win.

A couple of players to watch out for on Clay are pitcher Danielle Cline (who allowed one earned run in the district semifinals), Cami Whitley and Hunter Adams, players who hit home runs in the district semifinal win.

As for the Lady Wildcats, they are looking to gain their first district championship in softball since '04, and they've made it this far with a sectional final win over Western Latham, 10-0 and the aforementioned win over Southern in the district semifinals with the eight-run shutout, leaving WHS outscoring their postseason opponents, 18-0.

A big reason for the shutout is senior Kiley Sosby, who in 12 innings this postseason has struck out a total of 24 batters (12 in each game) with no walks and just seven hits.

At the plate this postseason for WHS, they've forced 16 walks, including four by Sosby and three each by Nace and Alexis Jones. Ashleigh Harless has two walks this postseason.

Jaycie Parr in two games this postseason leads WHS with three hits, while Sosby, Jones, Jayde Parr, Chelsea Chisman, Ashlyn Moore and Courtney Gross each have two hits.

Leading WHS in RBIs entering the district finals is Jayde Parr with four, while teammate Gross has three runs batted in. Jaycie Parr and Harless each have two RBIs.

The district final game will be for the Minford 2 district title, beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 23 at Minford High School.
