17 Highland County players named to media All-District teams

A combined 17 Highland County boys and girls basketball players have been named to the Ohio Preps Sportswriters Association Southeast Ohio All-District Basketball Team (formerly the Associated Press All-District), with three players earning first-team honors.
Highland County girls basketball had two players named to the Division III first team in Fairfield senior Grace Shope and Lynchburg-Clay junior Peyton Scott. Shope averaged 21.3 points per game this season, and Scott averaged 25.1.
For boys basketball, Lynchburg-Clay senior Eric McLaughlin was also named to the Division III first team. McLaughlin averaged 19.7 points per game for his senior season.

Two Highland County players were named to the second-team. For the girls Division III team, McClain junior Maddy Stegbauer earned second-team honors, averaging 10.8 ppg. Whiteoak senior Trever Yeager was a second-team selection for Div. IV, as Yeager averaged 12.5 ppg.
A total of six players from Highland County received third-team recognition. In Division II, Hillsboro senior Madi Marsh, who averaged 6.3 ppg, was named to the girls team. Hillsboro also had a senior representative on the Division II boys team in Phillip Mycroft, who averaged 13.4 ppg.
Division III had two players named to the third team, as Lynchburg-Clay junior Zoe Fittro earned recognition with her 10.8 ppg. Another Lynchburg-Clay junior, Damin Pierson, was named to the boys third team for Div. III, as Pierson averaged 12.3 ppg.
For Division IV, two Fairfield seniors, Tucker Ayres and Cody Gragg, each earned third-team honors on the All-District boys team. Gragg averaged 15.7 ppg, and Ayres averaged 14.9 ppg this season.
Six players from Highland County were named special mention All-District. In girls basketball, Hillsboro sophomore Karleigh Hopkins was named to the Division II list; Fairfield senior Blake Adams was on the Division III list; and Whiteoak sophomore Cylee Bratton earned special mention for Div. IV. Boys basketball special mention selections included Div. II honorees junior Ethan Watson of Hillsboro and McClain junior Devin Carter, along with Fairfield junior Sam Buddelmeyer.
