UC Clermont teams capture 2 national championships, 1 runner-up finish this fall; Slack member of national champion team

The University of Cincinnati Clermont is celebrating a record-breaking fall sports season, culminating in national championships in women’s volleyball and women’s soccer, and a national runner-up finish for men’s soccer. The 2025 season accolades bring the total number of UC Clermont national titles to 12.

Women’s soccer achieves three-peat

The UC Clermont women’s soccer team secured a 3-1 victory over NHTI to win the 2025 United States Collegiate Athletic Association Division II National Championship, marking their third consecutive title.

Editor’s note: The team includes freshman Aubrey Slack, a Lynchburg-Clay graduate and former Lady Mustangs soccer standout.

Head Coach Kemar Jackson reflected on the dynasty.

“The girls wanted to write their names in the history books,” Jackson said. “From day one this was their motivation, and they fought through a lot of adversity to get here. They were committed to each other and believed in the coaching staff and our plan to accomplish our goal.”

Women’s volleyball captures national title

The UC Clermont women’s volleyball team claimed the 2025 USCAA Division II National Championship, defeating Kent State-Tuscarawas in a thrilling four-set final after a dominant tournament run. 

This marks the program’s second volleyball national title; the Cougars also topped the USCAA in 2021.

Kent State knocked the team out of the tournament in 2024. This year, UC Clermont not only defeated the defending champs in the final, they also bested Kent State three times during the regular season en route to a record of 23-4.

“This was a special win with an amazing group of special young ladies,” said Head Coach Josh Hamer. “This group of players and coaches are a true family.”

Men’s soccer finishes second in nation

The UC Clermont men’s soccer team capped off a remarkable season by advancing to the USCAA Division II National Championship match, finishing as runner-up. 

Head Coach Avery Patton said it is only the second time that the men’s soccer team has reached the national tournament (first was the 2022 season), and the first time they have reached the championship game.

“These guys have helped build this program to what it is now,” Patton said. “While we did not come home as national champions, we all are proud of what we have accomplished and the history we made.”

A golden era for UC Clermont athletics

With two national championships and one runner-up finish in a single season adding to the college’s dozen national titles overall, UC Clermont has firmly established itself as a powerhouse in the USCAA.

“I am so proud of all our fall teams and what they were able to accomplish,” said Athletic Director Brian Sullivan. “I am fortunate enough to see every day beginning in the summer what it takes to achieve their goals. Our players and staff put in countless hours, and it is a great feeling seeing it pay off in the end.”   

The USCAA is a national governing body for the athletic programs of small colleges and community colleges across the U.S. Established in 2001, the conference includes more than 80 member institutions.
