  • Ohio Wildlife Council approves new saugeye fishing regulations at specific lakes

    The Ohio Wildlife Council voted to approve changes to site-specific regulations for walleye, saugeye and sauger fishing as well as to set the spring 2025 wild turkey hunting season during its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 30, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

    Fish Ohio records from Lake Erie show 3,916 catches of trophy fish from 17 different species were submitted in 2023, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

    The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife stocked 40.8 million fish of 11 species in Ohio waters in 2023. Fish were stocked during spring, summer and fall at 239 locations statewide. These annual fish stockings play an important role in providing excellent fishing for Ohio’s 1.7 million anglers.
