Wins continue for Patriots, defeat MU-H by 25 points

The wins continue to roll in for the Southern State Patriots this season, with their most recent victory coming Wednesday as they defeated the Miami University-Hamilton Harriers, 95-70 at the Patriot Center.
This win comes after being awarded a win via forfeit by University of Cincinnati-Clermont (Monday), giving the Patriots 11 consecutive wins. The win moves the Patriots to 15-2 overall, with their last loss coming on Nov. 28 at UC Clermont.
SSCC led MU-H 38-31 at the half and took over in the second half with a 57-39 score in that 20-minute span. The Patriots shot 40 percent from the field overall, including 48 percent from inside the arc.
From the free-throw line, SSCC was 25-of-26 (96 percent).
Diondrey Holt led the Patriots in scoring with 20 points, followed by Martise McLaurin with 18 and Brandon Whitlock with 16, including two 3-pointers. Ty Harris was also in double figures with 12 points.[[In-content Ad]]
McLaurin finished with a double-double by adding 11 rebounds, and Walton also collected a double-double by grabbing 10 rebounds as the Patriots totaled 44 team rebounds.
Also scoring for SSCC were Jalen Gordon (2), Jovon Freshwater (2), J.R. Blair (6) and Kam Harris (6).
Kam Harris and Freshwater each led SSCC with seven assists, followed by Blair with five. Blair had a team-high two blocked shots. Holt added a team-high four steals to his overall totals.
Overall, the Patriots totaled 24 fouls and 10 turnovers.
The Patriots will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 19 as they are scheduled to hit the road for three straight games, with the first stop being at Ohio University-Lancaster. They will follow that with a game on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at Miami University-Middletown and on Saturday, Jan. 26 the Patriots will travel to West Virginia University-Parkersburg.
