Wilmington High School and Miami University graduate Quinten Rollins is attracting the attention of NFL scouts this week in preparation for the 2015 Reese's Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
The Reese's Senior Bowl is 3 p.m. (CST) Saturday, Jan. 24. The game will be played at Ladd-Peebles Stadium and broadcast on the NFL Network.
According to a report by Bryan Fischer, College Football 24/7 writer, at http://www.nfl.com:
"NFL scouts have taken notice of what Rollins can do. In addition to earning an invite to this week's Senior Bowl, the buzz has continued to build around Rollins, and some insiders think he could be a Day 1 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. That he's having a solid week of practice certainly isn't hurting that outlook.
"'Getting out to compete with the best players in the country, it's been great," Rollins said told Fischer. "It's definitely surreal. This doesn't happen every day. Getting a chance to play college basketball and college football, having a great season, getting a chance to go to the NFL, it's all a blessing."
During his senior year at Wilmington High School in 2010, Rollins rushed for 1,340 yards, averaging 7.7 yards per carry. At Miami, he focused on basketball, playing point guard for the Redhawks.
Rollins finished his career ranked second at Miami and 12th among Mid-American Conference career leaders in steals with 214. He was one of only 15 players in MAC history to reach 200 career steals. Rollins also ranked fourth at Miami in career assists (391), seventh in games started (106) and ninth in minutes played (3,448). He was only player in Miami history to twice record seven steals in a game.
In football, as a senior Rollins was named MAC Defensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-MAC and finished with 72 tackles, seven interceptions, 4.0 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and nine pass breakups.
His seven interceptions ranked first in the MAC and third nationally.
Rollins had six tackles and an interception at Michigan, earning MAC East defensive Player of the Week. He recorded eight tackles and two interceptions against Cincinnati.
At Wilmington, Rollins was a three-time all-state selection, earning first-team distinction as a senior, third-team honors as a junior and honorable mention accolades as a sophomore.
As a senior, he was named the 2010 Southwest District Player of the Year in basketball, averaging 19.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.6 spg and 2.5 apt. He led the Hurricane to three straight conference titles, including a 21-3 record in 2009.
He was a three-time first-team all-conference selection in football, being named 2009 FAVC Co-Athlete of the Year in football.
Quinten is the son of Kendra (Khandi) Rollins.
