BAINBRIDGE — The Paint Valley Bearcats have worked all season long for a chance to play in Week 11, and that time is finally here as the No. 5 seeded Bearcats will travel to Sidney to take on No. 4 seeded Lehman Catholic at Sidney High School, Saturday at 7 p.m.

This will be the first time the Bearcats have played in the state playoffs since the 2003 season, and this Division VII matchup will feature two teams with a combined record of 17-3 this regular season with PV at 8-2 overall and the Cavaliers at 9-1.

Lehman Catholic went 6-0 in the Northwest Central Conference to earn their conference championship, while PV shared their Scioto Valley Conference title with two other schools.

Bearcat head coach Pete Hollon spoke about the Cavaliers and what they like to do offensively.

[[In-content Ad]]"They are a wide-open spread offense that executes well," he said. "They've scored 60 or more points in their past three games. They remind me of the Westfall team of 2012."

The Cavs scored 431 points this season (43.1 ppg) and allowed just 144 (14.4 ppg) as they won nine straight games following a season-opening loss to Anna, 40-14.

In those past three games, the Cavs defeated Ridgemont (61-6), Waynesfield-Goshen (60-0) and Upper Scioto Valley (62-26). The combined wins of those three teams were eight with Upper Scioto Valley having four wins on the season.

"Defensively, they like to overload the box," Hollon said. "They will come after you."

Players to look out offensively for the Cavs are quarterback Nick Rourke (2,356 yards passing, 418 yards rushing), wide receiver Andrew Westerhide (43 receptions for 770 yards) and running back John Husa (66 carries for 369 yards).

On defense, their standouts are linebackers Skylar Brown (58 tackles, four sacks) and Kristopher Lee (50 tackles).

For the Bearcats, they are entering this game following a regular season where they were 5-2 in the SVC, including a Week 10, 49-16 win over Huntington. Their two losses are by a combined nine points. PV ended the regular season with a two-game winning streak.

PV will look to Teagan McFadden and Mark Clifford to carry the ball for them as McFadden had over 1,000 yards for the season as a sophomore and the senior Clifford had 900-plus yards.

Hollon spoke about the community of Bainbridge and their support this season.

"The community has been behind us all year," he said. "The kids of this team are a great source of pride for the community. I can't thank the community enough for all of the support this season. I hope we play well and they can come home with a smile on their face."
