For the second time in the last three weeks, Wilmington Quakers catcher Samantha Schwab is your Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Softball Athlete of the Week.
This is the second time in her career that Schwab has been recognized for her outstanding effort on the field.
Schwab went 8-for-18 last week over six games for the Quakers. She had four extra-base hits, with three home runs and a double. All three home runs came in the Quakers doubleheader sweep over Earlham College last Wednesday.
Schwab hit two home runs in the first game and one in the second contest. During the week, she drove in 13 runs, scored six runs, and walked twice.
The Quakers, as a team during the week, went 3-2-1 overall and are now 10-7-1 this season.
Schwab is currently tied with George Fox University's Sydney Sandifer for the most home runs in the country with eight. She is also tied for 10th in the country with Maryville College's (Tenn.) Paige Dickinson for the most runs batted in (RBI) with 30 this season.
Wilmington's next games are scheduled for Wednesday afternoon in New Concord against OAC opponent Muskingum University. Their doubleheader begins at 3 p.m.
