Senior Brady Vilvens competed in the High Jump for the Wilmington College men’s track & field team at the SPIRE Institute. The competition was held indoors due to weather concerns. Vilvens finished in a tie for ninth with a clearance of 2.00m to earn Second Team All-American honors.
The competition started at 1.95m where Vilvens (Wilmington HS/Wilmington, Ohio)cleared on his first attempt as four competitors failed at the first height. It bumped up to 2.00m for bar two, where he cleared on his first attempt. He became one of just seven athletes in the competition to clear both heights on their first try.
Unfortunately for Vilvens, despite three solid attempts, he failed at 2.05m to fall out of the competition and miss out on First-Team All-American status.
He became a three-time All-American outdoors in the event, joining Christian Patterson as the only Quakers ever to accomplish this feat. In 2023, he joined Patterson as the second Quakers male ever to win an individual National Championship in the High Jump. He followed this up with a fourth-place finish in 2024.
