Warriors add to Division I lead, defeat Mustangs

The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs were close to even with the Eastern Brown Warriors in three quarters, but it was the third quarter that did the host Mustangs in as they fell to the visiting Warriors, 62-51 Tuesday night.
The Mustangs led the Warriors 12-11 after the first quarter, and the score remained close in the second and fourth quarters as Eastern took a 12-10 lead in the second for a halftime score of 23-22. The teams tied at 22-22 in the fourth.
However, the aforementioned third quarter made all the difference, as a 17-7 lead by the Warriors in the frame sealed the conference win.
Eastern Brown, who currently leads Division I of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference, moves to 10-0 in the conference and 17-2 overall.

Lynchburg-Clay falls to 2-7 in the conference, 4-11 overall.
The Mustangs were led in scoring by Alec Smith, as he scored 14 points on the night. Gage Waits and Devin Pierson each added eight points, while Ryan Inman and Tyler Allen followed with seven apiece.
Eastern Brown was led by Chase Lawson with a game-high 30 points.
Also scoring for the Mustangs were Jacob Skaggs with four, Ethan Simmons with two and Marc Blankenship with one.
LC will next play on Friday, Feb. 1 as they will face the Manchester Greyhounds at home.
