Former University of Cincinnati team captain and all-conference performer, Jowon Briggs, was selected to participate in the East-West Shrine Bowl all-star game on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 8 p.m. ET at The Ford Center at The Star – home of the Dallas Cowboys.

The 2024 Shrine Bowl will be televised live on the NFL Network.

The Shrine Bowl is the oldest college all-star football game, dating back to 1925.

Briggs earned the Shrine Bowl invitation following a standout performance at the Hula Bowl all-star game earlier this month.

The Cincinnati native who transferred to the Bearcats from Virginia in 2021 was a team captain this past fall. He finished with 27 tackles and six TFLs over 12 starts en route to 2023 All-Big 12 honorable mention honors.

Briggs collected All-AAC First Team honors after tallying 60 tackles and 4.5 TFLs in 2022. He appeared in all 14 games and finished with 42 stops as integral part of the defensive line rotation during UC's 2021 College Football Playoff run.
