UC Clermont Cougars win twice over weekend

The UC Clermont volleyball established a three-game winning streak with a pair of wins last weekend.
These victories raised their record to 5-2 through the first three weeks of the season.
The team returned to the “Cougardome” on Friday, Sept. 12 for a brief one-game homestand. Clermont faced local rival Miami-Middletown.
The Cougars got off to a quick start against the Thunderhawks and didn’t look back as Clermont swept the match in three sets. Middletown played some tough floor defense, but the Cougars matched that effort with 41 digs of their own. Clermont added some potent offense – hitting at a sizzling .360 mark for the contest.
On Saturday, the Cougars hopped on the bus to kick off a five-game road trip. The first stop was Parkersburg, W.Va. Clermont struggled a bit with some good WVU-Parkersburg hitting but still was able to pull through with another three-set sweep.
The Cougar offense continued their torrid hitting with a .337 team percentage and added 10 service aces to the effort.
The road trip continues this week. First, Clermont heads to Wilberforce, Ohio to face NCAA Division II program Central State. The contest will mark the home opener for the Marauders.
On Saturday, the Cougars travel north for a re-match with Ohio State-Newark. The first meeting in Batavia was a tight contest, so the rematch promises to be a good one.
