Former University of Cincinnati volleyball player Jordan Thompson has been selected to the 2024 U.S. Olympic Women's Volleyball Team, the organization announced recently.

Thompson has been tabbed to her second consecutive Olympic roster. She was part of the 2020 U.S. team that won the gold medal in Tokyo, becoming the sixth Bearcat to earn a gold medal. She joined track and field athlete Mary Wineberg (2008), aquatics athlete Jennifer Kemp (1972) and soccer athlete Vanessa Giles (2020) as well as George Wilson (1964) and Oscar Robertson (1960) from the men's basketball program.

"Jordan continues to shine on the court in her performance and off the court as a positive face to the sport on the international stage," said head coach Molly Alvey, who coached Thompson from 2015-19. "I have said this so many times in the past, she will only continue to get better and better at crafting her volleyball skill set.

"On behalf of the university, our athletic department and our program, we are so very proud to see Jordan continue to perform on the global stage. She's always been an amazing ambassador for our institution, and we know she will continue to do the same in Paris this summer. We wish her, Coach Karch Kiraly, and Team USA all the luck and perseverance as they prepare for the upcoming Olympic Games."

Thompson has been with Team USA this month as they prepare for the Olympics with the 2024 Volleyball Nations League. Indoor volleyball competition at the 2024 Olympic Games will be held at the South Paris Arena, located about nine miles south of the Olympic village. Women's Olympic indoor volleyball competition kicks off July 27 and runs through Aug. 11.

The U.S. women won their first-ever gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. In history, the U.S. women have won three silver and two bronze medals. In Tokyo, the women's indoor, women's beach and women's sitting teams all won gold medals.

At the 2020 Olympic Games, 100 percent of the U.S. women's indoor volleyball team competed collegiately across eight different colleges and universities. All selections to the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team are subject to USOPC approval.
