Trout derby and fun shoot set for April 2

A Trout Derby & Fun Shoot will be held April 2, 2011 at Rocky Fork State Park's campground docks, with registration starting at 10 a.m.

All activities are free, and prizes will be awarded to the first 500 kids registered. Fishing for ages 15 and under will be held from 1-4 p.m. and shooting for ages 15 and under will be held from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The event will include tagged money fish, archery shooting, food and drinks, and shotgun shooting. All guns and ammunition are provided; do not bring your own shotgun or ammo.

The event is sponsored by the Highland County Rod & Gun Club, Ohio Division of Wildlife and Ohio Division of Parks and Recreation, with special thanks to the Hillsboro chapter of the Friends of NRA.

Tagged fish sponsors are NCB, Merchants Bank, Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, Hillsboro Lions Club, Hamilton Insurance, Highland County Coon Hunters Club, County Engineer Dean Otworth, Ohio Department of Wildlife, Ron Ward, Kevin Greer, and Whitetails Unlimited.

In the event of rain, the derby will be held April 3.
