GREENFIELD — After a slow start to the season in their first two games, the McClain Tigers have put that in the rearview mirror in their past three outings, as they are driving to the top of the South Central Ohio League in defense of their SCOL championship.

This week (Tuesday), the Tigers' game with the London Red Raiders was postponed due to rain and lightning, but on Thursday the sun was out and the Tigers got back to "taking care of business" by defeating the Washington Blue Lions, 6-1 at McClain Field.

MHS controlled the match for the entire 80 minutes, leading by three goals (3-0) after the first half and scoring three more in the final 40 minutes. At one point in the second half, the Tigers led 4-1.

The win is McClain's third straight win, all SCOL wins.

Scoring for the Tigers was Daniel White and Sam Henry, as each player scored twice. Luis Rivas and Trey Lytle each had one goal.

"This was a very good offensive games and the kids talked, which is something we want to see," MHS coach Shawn Jackson said. "Our defense was excellent, and Washington was ready to play too. It was just a good game."

Assists were credited to Henry and Rivas with two each and White with one.

The Tigers now stand at 3-2 overall, and 3-0 in the SCOL.

MHS will travel to Clarksville for a matchup with the Clinton-Massie Falcons on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
