The McClain varsity and JV wrestling teams traveled to Stephen T. Badin High School in Hamilton on Tuesday for a tri-match with Badin and Cincinnati Hughes Center.

Last year, McClain and Badin tied 30-30 with McClain ultimately meeting the tiebreaker criteria, thus making the final score 31-30. This year's match proved to be another thriller with the Tigers winning 60-12 against Cincinnati Hughes and 48-30 against Badin.

McClain opened the night with a dual match against Hughes Center, an inner-city Cincinnati school.

This match was rather lopsided, with McClain winning 60-12.

In the rematch with Badin, McClain struggled early with Badin scoring the first 24 points.

The Tigers needed to string together a great number of wins to pull this one out, and they met the challenge.

Of the next 54 points scored, the Tigers scored 48 of them, as the Tigers won the match by 18.

With their first two duals of the year under their belts, the Tiger grapplers now stand at 2-0.

Individually, the following wrestlers went 2-0: Kylee Stroud (106), Isaac Savage (145), Cody Black (152), Joe Unger (160), Caleb Savage (170), Gary Ryan (195), Brandon Davis (220) and Jake Branham (285).

Coty Barnhart (132) and Brendon Goble (182) both went 1-1 on the night.

Winning their JV match were Eric Rowe (160), Dylan Wheaton (285), Dylan Trefz (285) and Roscoe East (182).

Up next for McClain's varsity is the Xenia Invitational Tournament, and for the JV squad, the Kiwanis Key Club Tournament in Circleville. Both tournaments are Saturday, Dec. 10.[[In-content Ad]]
