CHILLICOTHE — The McClain Tigers hit a hot streak with their bats on Friday night at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe.
The heat of the Tigers' bats torched the North Adams Green Devils for six innings, as the Tigers cruised to a 14-4 non-league game.
MHS, the home team, had five players with at least two hits and a quality pitching performance to seal their first win of the year, as they now stand at 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the South Central Ohio League.
McClain scored four runs in the first, followed by a two-run third and seven-run fourth. In the sixth, MHS scored their final run.
North Adams scored one run in the first inning, along with one more in the third and two runs in five innings in the fifth.
The Tigers had two inside-the-park home runs off the bats of Zack Puckett and Cameron Spangler.
For the game, Puckett led the Tigers with a 3-for-4 night, including the aforementioned home run and a triple.
Ryan Case, Trevor Gossett and Ryan Perie each went 2-for-3 with Perie tallying three RBIs, while Case hit two doubles and two RBIs. Gossett hit a triple.
Spangler was 2-for-2, as the Tigers totaled 14 hits as a team.
The win on the mound was credited to Case (1-1). Case pitched six innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk. Case struck out eight batters.
MHS is scheduled to play in a tri-doubleheader on Saturday as they travel to Leesburg to face Fairfield and Southeastern High School. The first game against FHS is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
