Tigers rout Red Raiders

GREENFIELD — The McClain Tigers opened the game slow, but that lasted all of two minutes as they easily won their South Central Ohio League opener, defeating the London Red Raiders 13-3 for their second victory in as many games, Tuesday at McClain Field.
The Tigers led 8-1 after the first half was completed, scoring five more goals in the second half.
London was first to score in the game, but after that the Tigers took over.
"We started flat with London scoring first on us, but after two minutes we got on track and just continued," MHS coach Shawn Jackson said.
Senior Sam Henry and sophomore Nick Rivas led the way for the defending SCOL champions with three goals each, as both players earned a hat-trick.
They are the second and third players for the Tigers to have a hat-trick this season (in two games) as senior Luis Rivas scored three goals Monday against Lynchburg-Clay.
Jarred White, a senior, scored twice for the Tigers on Tuesday.
Scoring one goal against the Red Raiders were: Luis Rivas, senior Trey Lytle, junior Ben Chamblin, freshman Reid Garrison and freshman Zack Harper.
"The kids played well," Jackson said. "Our defense was good, and our offense was excellent. Again, the kids played a really good game, worked hard. We are going to have a good practice on Wednesday and prepare to play Madison-Plains next."
The win lifts MHS to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the SCOL.
McClain will face the Golden Eagles on Thursday at 5 p.m.
