Tigers narrowly fall to Panthers

Lead Summary
By
The Highland County Press-
In a game that lasted just one hour and five minutes and featured six double plays, the McClain Tigers fell short of knocking off the No. 9 state-ranked Miami Trace, dropping their South Central Ohio League game by a 2-0 score.

Kyle Flora suffered the hard-luck loss for the Tigers on the mound, as he went the distance. Flora allowed just three Panther hits and two earned runs.

The Tigers managed five hits during the contest, led by sophomore Cameron Spangler at 2-for-2. Shawn Haddox, Jordan Boles and Brent Shannon had the other hits for McClain.

"We scattered some hits but really couldn't get anything going against Wallace," MHS head coach Brandon Streitenberger said. "They had the same problem against Flora, but it just came down to a timely hit on their part in the fourth inning."

Both MT runs were scored in the fourth inning, as the Panthers are the leaders of the SCOL.

McClain (4-7, 7-12) hosts Madison-Plains on Monday in an SCOL contest. They will follow that with an away game on Tuesday, and they will host Lynchburg-Clay on Wednesday. Thursday will also be a home game as MHS hosts Eastern Brown, and on Friday, the Tigers wrap up the regular season with a makeup game against the Hillsboro Indians.
