GREENFIELD — The name of the game was defense Tuesday night at McClain High School, where the Tigers defended and defeated the visiting North Adams Green Devils, 52-33.

This was the first time the Green Devils had played in Greenfield during the regular season in over two decades, and for the first quarter, there was little scoring in their return to MHS by either team with the Tigers (3-1) leading 9-8 after the first eight minutes.

"Defensively, we played fairly well," MHS head coach Joe Wisecup said. "It wasn't our best game … we need to work on our decision-making.

"On offense, our execution was off, and we weren't as focused as I would have liked us to have been. We'll have to play better Friday night if we want it to turn out the way we want it to."

The Green Devils, of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference, built a 5-2 lead early on, but a 3-pointer from Lincoln O'Connor tied the score at 5-5 with 2:05 left in the opening frame.

From there, the Green Devils answered with a trey of their own from Christian Bradford, but MHS ended the quarter with four points from Thomas Schrader and Ryan Faulconer.

Also finishing in double figures for the Tigers was Pritchard with 10 points and three steals.

Leading all scorers was North Adams' Blake Bradley with a game-high 18 points, finishing 12-of-14 from the free-throw line.

At the end of the second quarter, the Tigers built a lead off 10 points at 23-13 with a 10-0 run in the first 3:20 of the quarter. The run consisted of points from Pritchard and Faulconer, including a 3-pointer from Pritchard with 6:57 left in the second, beginning the run of points.

Those points were followed by two free throws by Faulconer, along with a put-back bucket from the junior captain. Pritchard followed with a jumper, and Faulconer finished the run with a free-throw at the 4:40 mark of the quarter.

Also in the second, Bryce Duff sank a 3-pointer with 2:49 left in the first half.

In the third, the Tigers built a 14-point lead with a quarter of 13-0, and in the fourth, the Tigers outscored the visitors, 16-11.

Also for the Tigers, Jeremiah Savage and Evan Mustard (four rebounds, four assists) each scored four points in the game, followed by Duff and O'Connor each adding three for the game. Josh Todd added two points for the Tigers, along with four rebounds.

As for the defense, the Tigers forced 20 turnovers, while MHS committed 16 turnovers.

The Tigers will host Highland County rival Hillsboro in a South Central Ohio League game Friday night.
