Tigers fall in makeup game at Clinton-Massie

CLARKSVILLE — The McClain Tigers finally had their chance to play Clinton-Massie following the original date of the game being switched to Tuesday, but the date change didn't fare well for the Tigers as they fell to the host Falcons, 52-44.
The loss moves the Tigers to 5-9 overall and 1-6 in the South Central League. The win gives the Falcons a 4-0 league record and 7-2 mark on the season.
Both teams started the game slow in the scoring category, as they combined for 10 first-quarter points, with the Falcons leading 6-2 after the eight-minute span.
From there, CM outscored the visiting MHS squad, 15-11 for a halftime lead of 21-15. In the third, the Falcons again outscored the Tigers, 16-12. MHS rallied to win the fourth frame 17-15, but it wasn't enough for the win.
The Falcons were led in scoring by Cory Saddler and Dylan Rose with 14 points each, as each player also made two 3-pointers. Also in double figures for the Falcons was Isaac Dell with 10 points. Tyler Uetrecht (one 3-pointer) followed with eight points, while Trent Smart and J.D. Curtsinger each had three points.[[In-content Ad]]
For McClain, senior John Turner had his best game of the season with a team-high 17 points, including one 3-pointer. Sophomore Ryan Faulconer followed with 13 points. Evan Mustard added eight points, and completing the MHS scoring were Brent Shannon and Tyler McGuire each with three points and Philip Thompson with one point.
MHS was 10-of-17 (59 percent) from the free-throw line, while the Falcons were 7-of-14 (50 percent).
MHS committed 11 turnovers, while CM had nine.
The Tigers play again on Friday as they host Miami Trace in SCOL play.
