Tigers fall to Golden Eagles for SCOL loss

In what was each of the teams' lowest scoring game of the season, it was the Madison-Plains Golden Eagles who came out with the higher score as they defeated the McClain Tigers, 29-25 in a South Central Ohio League contest.
In the first quarter, the Golden Eagles (6-2, 6-5) led 6-5 after eight minutes, but the Tigers (1-5, 4-7) rallied for a 10-point second quarter, while holding MP to eight points, to take a halftime lead of 15-14.
In the third, MP outscored MHS, 6-4, and in the final eight minutes, the Golden Eagles led 9-6.
MHS has lost their past five games by a deficit of five or fewer points, including three one-point losses, a five-point loss and the four-point loss to MP.

For the Golden Eagles, Brooks Carter led all scorers with 10 points, followed by Alex Williams with eight. Hunter Butin added five points, while Stephen Lemieux and Damon Glispie each totaled three points.
MP was 3-of-10 from the free-throw line, while MHS went 3-of-4 from the charity stripe.
Leading the Tigers in scoring were Brent Shannon with nine points and Ryan Faulconer with seven. John Turner followed with four points, Mikel Pritchard with three and Thomas Schrader rounded out the scoring with two.
Both teams had two 3-point baskets with Shannon and Pritchard scoring for the Tigers and Butin and Glispie adding the baskets for the Golden Eagles.
Also for the Tigers, they totaled 14 fouls, 22 rebounds, seven steals, four assists and 14 turnovers. For the Golden Eagles, they totaled 11 fouls, 25 rebounds, 10 steals, two assists and 20 turnovers.
The Tigers will play again on Saturday as they travel to face Unioto in a non-league game.
