In a game that featured high emotion, the McClain Tigers came out on the losing end to the Madison-Plains Golden Eagles Wednesday by a score of 5-4 at Mitchell Park in Greenfield.
Senior Jordan Boles was the losing pitcher in the South Central Ohio League game for the Tigers. Boles went the distance, striking out three and walking only one. Boles gave up 12 hits on the day and five earned runs.
"Jordan pitched well despite the box score," MHS head coach Brandon Streitenberger said. "The middle of their lineup was unstoppable. Jordan threw strikes, pitched to contact and did everything we needed him to do.

"Sometimes, you've got to tip your hat to the other team, and tonight was one of those nights. It's just hard to tip your hat to a team that approaches the game of baseball much differently than you do."
The Tigers scored runs in each of the first two innings, followed by two more runs in the fifth. MP had a two-run first and a three-run third.
Wednesday's game marks the end of Madison-Plains' involvement in the SCOL.
The Tigers were led at the plate by Brent Shannon, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Other Tiger batters contributing with a hit were Boles, Kyle Flora and Trevor Gossett.
McClain falls to 4-8 in the SCOL and 7-14 overall. The Tigers are scheduled to host the Hillsboro on Friday for an SCOL makeup.
