GREENFIELD — The McClain Tigers battled and battled, giving their student section many reasons to cheer on their home team, but in the end the battle was just a tad bit too much for the Tigers to overcome. Clinton-Massie, playing their first game of the season, defeated MHS 73-70 in double overtime, Friday night.

The Tigers (0-2, 1-3) led 17-10 after the first quarter and 29-23 at halftime in the South Central Ohio League game.

The Falcons came out in the third frame and put up 20 points, while holding MHS to 11 for a 43-39 Falcon lead.

But after a 15-11 Tiger advantage in the fourth, the score was tied at 54.

One overtime wasn't enough as each team scored eight points, making it 62-62, forcing another OT period.

For the Tigers, they were led by Thomas Schrader with 21 points. Ten of his 21 points came in the two overtime periods. Schrader finished with nine field goals and two converted free throws.
