Tigers earn win over Mohawks

CHILLICOTHE — The McClain Tigers team knocked off the Northwest Mohawks, Tuesday, 8-6 at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe.

MHS struck early in the game with Brent Shannon leading off with a single, followed by a Cameron Spangler walk. Zack Puckett followed suit with a three-run inside-the-park home run to put the Tigers up 3-0 after the first inning.

Shannon led all Tiger hitters, going 4-for-4 with two RBIs.

The Tigers tacked on three more runs in the third with help from a double by Jordan Boles, which plated two runs.


[[In-content Ad]]Boles, a junior, also earned the pitching win by working 6 1-3 innings. Boles struck out nine batters and walked one, while allowing five earned runs.

Ryan Case picked up the save for MHS, retiring the final two Northwest batters.

McClain (4-3, 6-11) will travel to Eastern Brown Wednesday for a non-league contest.
