The McClain Tigers wrestling team hosted their second and final home match of the year, welcoming the Miami Trace Panthers and the Clinton-Massie Falcons for a South Central Ohio League tri-match.

MHS entered the day with an even 1-1 mark in SCOL duals, and they were fortunate enough to end the day with an even mark at 2-2, by defeating the Falcons and falling to the Panthers.

The Tigers and the Falcons had the first match as MHS was able to double up on the visiting team and pull away with a 48-24 victory.

MTHS and CMHS took to the mats for the second dual with the Panthers winning a hard-fought battle, 48-34.

In the final match against Miami Trace, MHS fought hard and had several good matches. In particular, Jake Badgley (152 pounds) had a pin fall win over Austin Baughman.

Kylee Stroud (MHS) electrified the crowd at 106 pounds with a big pin over Timmy Chaney of Miami Trace.

Miami Trace kept their undefeated league mark intact, however, with a 56-21 victory. Miami Trace had one team point deducted when Chaney threw his headgear after being pinned.

Individually, Badgley and Dylan Trefz (285) led the way for McClain with perfect 2-0 marks on the night. Conner Moriarty (120) went 1-0.

Eight of McClain's grapplers split even on the night at 1-1: Stroud, Kaleb Smith (126), Jason Flowers (138), Dillon Hunick (145), Ethan Paul (160), Lucas Unger (182), Gable Smith (195) and Brendon Goble (220).

Charlie Davis (132) put up a fight but fell short of a victory, going 0-2. Three JV matches were contested; Dillon Faulconer (138) went 0-2, and Jarrett Milnes (220) went 1-0 with a pin against Miami Trace.

Up next for the varsity team is the SCOL Tournament on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Chillicothe High School. Individual weight class champions will be determined.
