This season, the McClain Tigers have started off as well as they possibly could have in the standings, as they avenged a loss from one season ago by defeating the Zane Trace Pioneers, 28-20 at ZTHS.

The win by McClain puts them at 3-0 overall this season, as they've won three times against the Scioto Valley Conference, all non-league games.

For the Tigers, they led 13-6 after the first quarter, followed by the two teams each scoring two points in the second frame for a 21-14 advantage at the half.

In the third, the Tigers outscored the host Pioneers, 7-0, and ZT scored six points in the fourth.

The Pioneers falls to 0-3 overall with the loss.

Leading the way for the Tigers was senior quarterback Thomas Schrader, who was 8-of-13 passing for 245 yards and two touchdowns, as the Tigers relied on their air attack, rather than their ground game for the first time this season.

With all the passing, that meant the receivers got to get into the action, and the players catching half of the competitions was sophomore Alex Hollar who caught four passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns. Hollar averaged 49.3 yards per catch against ZTHS.

Senior Dustin Dalton had one catch for 34 yards, while Ryan Faulconer caught two passes and Dillon Hunick had one catch.
