Tiger wrestling falls to LHS, MT in tri-match

LONDON — The McClain wrestling team traveled to London High School on Thursday, Dec. 22 for a South Central Ohio League tri-match, which also included the Miami Trace Panthers.
McClain and the Panthers were the first round matchup.
The Panthers showed the Tigers why they are the defending league champions, as Miami Trace won 12 of the 14 weight classes, having a final score of 63-12.
In the second round, the host London Red Raiders also defeated McClain with a final score of 47-33.
Leading the way for McClain was Kylee Stroud (106) and Brandon Davis (220) both going 2-0 on the day.
Four Tigers, Coty Barnhart (132), Joe Unger (160), Roscoe East (170) and Caleb Savage (182) each went 1-1.
For the season, McClain is now 7-6 overall and 0-2 in the SCOL.
In addition, there were five JV matches contested with McClain winning three of the five matchups.
Jake Branham (220) pinned his Miami Trace opponent. Brendon Goble (195) and Dylan Wheaton (285) both pinned their London opponents.
Up next for McClain is a tri-match with Cincinnati North College Hill and East Clinton at East Clinton High School on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 6 p.m. Joining the high school squad will be Greenfield Middle School. They will compete against the Madison-Plains Golden Eagles and host East Clinton.

On Sunday, Dec. 18, the Greenfield Youth Wrestling Club competed in the Blanchester Youth Tournament.
Eight of the club's members participated, and six of them placed in the top three in their perspective weight and age classes.
Three of the Tigers were champions with Courtney Walker finishing 3-0, Quinton Smith at 3-0 and Torian Price at 3-0.
Kyler Trefz was runner up, going 2-1.
Third place finishers were Noah Hull (3-1) and Zach Lynch.
Also competing for the Tigers was Tanner Tite (1-2) and Justin Kegley, losing two close battles.
