Tiger Sharks win 4-team meet

The McClain Tiger Sharks boys swim team won for the second time at home this season, defeating Washington, Miami Trace and Clinton-Massie Wednesday at McClain High School.

MHS totaled 165 points for first place, followed by Washington at 118, MT with 104 and CM 30.

McClain had three first-place finishes as their times are continuing to get lower each meet.

In the girls meet, MHS was fourth at 104, as Miami Trace won the event with 146 points. In second was CM (132), and third belonged to Washington (104).

As for the boys event, Tommy Free won the 200-yard freestyle at 2:14.09, and in second was Daniel Mottie at 2:33.50 for his best time of the season thus far in the event.

Free also won the 500-yard freestyle at 6:16.03 for his best time of the season. The MHS 200-yard freestyle relay team of Adomas Fabin, Free, Tommy Henry and Mottie won with a time of 1:51.22. In third was the MHS B-relay 200-yard freestyle team of Ryan Wilkin, Bryan Riley, Braden Adams and Storm Faulconer at 2:13.88.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the MHS team of Free, Fabin, Litteral and Henry were third at 2:10.06.

The 100-yard butterfly event saw Ryan Page finish second at 1:43.00 (best time of season) and Faulconer in third at 2:06.81.

McClain's Nick Torbett was third in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:22.63. In the 100-yard breaststroke event, Litteral was second at 1:26.88, and in third was Page at 1:29.07.

In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the MHS team of Fabin, Mottie, Litteral and Page were second with a time of 4:27.78 with their best time of the season.

For the girls' next meet, MHS had four first-place finishes.

Morgan Dettwiller, a senior, won the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle, with a time of 2:31.13 in the 200 freestyle and 6:58.43 in the 500 freestyle. The 200 freestyle time by Dettwiller was her best time of the season.

Alyssa Faulconer was fourth in the 500 freestyle at 8:22.19, cutting 24.9 seconds off her previous time.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Amber Sowders, Anna Ehlers, Alyssa Faulconer and Dettwiller finished first at 2:10.84.

Also with a first-place finish was Sowders in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:30.66.
