Third-quarter scoring leads to LC victory

DODSONVILLE — Using consistent scoring throughout their non-league game Tuesday night at Lynchburg-Clay High School, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs topped the Blanchester Lady Wildcats 39-29.

The third quarter proved to be the difference maker with LC outscoring BHS, 15-4.

In their other three quarters, LC scored eight points each and allowed quarter scoring of 4, 4 and 18.

At halftime, LC led 16-12, and following the third frame, the Lady Mustangs led 31-16.

Laney Lewis, a sophomore, led LC with 11 points, going 5-of-7 from the free-throw line with 15 rebounds (a double-double), seven blocked shots and four assists.

Lillian Blankenship and Brooke Hertlein each had eight points. Blankenship had three rebounds, one assist and one steal. Hertlein tallied 13 rebounds and two steals.

Hannah Blankenship scored five points while adding three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Karen Hilt had four points, two rebounds and one steal. Meredith Fittro scored three points, three rebounds and one assists.

LC had six turnovers.

The win lifts LC to 6-4 overall, and they are 2-3 in the Southern Hills League. LC is scheduled to play at North Adams on Thursday at 6 p.m. in SHL play.[[In-content Ad]]
