Teams compete in girls SCOL preview

Seven of the eight South Central Ohio League girls basketball teams participated in the annual South Central Ohio League Girls Basketball Preview at Miami Trace High School.

Clinton-Massie, last season's league champions, was unable to participate in the event due to the CM football team playing in the regional football playoffs.

As for the remaining seven teams, East Clinton defeated Hillsboro, 33-26 in two quarters with Kaylynn Bell leading HHS in scoring with 11 points. Trista Rhodes followed with five points. Tyeika Cumberland and Madison Snyder each added three points. Alex Stratton and Alyssa Sullivan each had one point.[[In-content Ad]]

Washington won over London, 25-20 in their two quarters.

With the final three teams, they had a round robin where each team played the other team for one quarter so each team could get their two quarters played.

In the first one-quarter game, Madison-Plains defeated McClain, 13-7. Miami Trace followed by defeating MP, 18-11. In the final one-quarter game, MT won over MHS, 22-2.

Against MP for the Lady Tigers of MHS, Sydney Barton scored four points and Tara Karnes added three points. Against MT, Karnes scored two points from the free-throw line.

The regular season for girls basketball will start on Saturday, Nov. 24.
