Stroud, Walker place at Girls State Wrestling Tournament

McClain's Kylee Stroud and middle school wrestler Courtney Walker both placed at the annual Girls State Wrestling Tournament.

The tournament, which took place on March 9 at Doylestown, consisted of 79 wrestlers from ages 5 through high school.

Stroud, who wrestled in the 104-pound class, wrestled three times at the event, placing third overall in the class. This is the second consecutive year Stroud placed third at the girls state tournament.

In the first round, Stroud, an MHS varsity wrestler, lost via pin fall. She then rallied in the second round with a victory by pin fall. In her third match, Stroud lost by pin.

Walker was first place at the middle school 116-pound class. Last year, Walker was third in the girls state tournament.

The middle schooler had a first-round bye, then was victorious by pin fall in the first period in the second round. In the third round, Walker won by a decision at 12-6.
