GREEN BAY – Texas A&M defensive lineman Shemar Stewart was selected with the 17th overall pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft Thursday night.
Stewart started all 12 regular-season games as a junior in 2024, tallying 31 tackles, including 14 solo takedowns. He was top-five on the team with 5.5 tackles for loss and seven quarterback hurries in his final season in Aggieland. He helped the Maroon & White rank among the top-25 nationally in tackles for loss (92.0).
The Miami, Fla. native led the Aggies with five tackles in the win at Florida to begin SEC play, also registering five tackles and 1.0 tackle for loss against South Carolina and Texas. Stewart earned All-SEC Third Team recognition following the season.
"I could not be prouder of Shemar," Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko said. "Shemar is a very athletic player with outstanding athletic abilities. His ability to impact the game is immeasurable. He is a very disruptive defensive lineman with the tools to be one of the best d-linemen in the country. The Bengals are getting a great young man who is poised for great success."
For his career, Stewart played in 37 games and tallied 65 tackles, including 11.0 for loss and 4.5 sacks. He defended four passes and recovered two fumbles, returning one 43 yards to the end zone in the win over Mississippi State in 2023.
