The Southern State women's team traveled to Ohio State University-Lima on Sunday, Dec. 14 and came from behind to gain their first win of the season, 83-69.

Lead by a team defensive effort and strong free throw shooting, the Patriots came back after being down 11 points with only 13 minutes left in the second half.

Natasha Barr (West Union) led the Patriots with 28 points and 11 rebounds, and Sarah Rosselott (Lynchburg-Clay) scored 21 points before fouling out.

"This group has worked so hard the past three weeks, and to see their effort and commitment payoff is great for the program.

"We kept fighting and never let them get away from us. The last 13 minutes, we owned the floor. It was wonderful to watch the team come together as a whole unit.    Our schedule does not get any easier, and the team will have to continue to work hard in practice."

Southern State is now 1-9 for the season. Their next home game is on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 1 p.m.
