Spicer resigns as Hillsboro football coach

Hillsboro Indians football coach Brian Spicer has resigned, according to Hillsboro City Schools Superintendent Rick Earley.

Spicer led the Indians from the 2009 season through this past season with an overall record of 12-28 mark.

His best season as the Indians' head coach was his very first season at HHS, when his team went 8-2 in '09. That was followed by seasons of 2-8, 2-8 and 0-10 as Hillsboro has had troubles getting members of the student body to come out for the team the past three years.

In the highlight game of each season in Highland County, the Rotary Bowl game between the Indians and cross-county rival McClain, Spicer's teams went 2-2, winning in '09 by a score of 33-8 and in '11 by a 28-27 score.

Spicer had previously been head football coach at East Canton, Marlington, Marietta and Albany High School in New York.
