Spicer named head coach at Westfall

On Monday, Feb. 25, the Westfall Board of Education approved the hiring of Brian Spicer to become the next head football coach for the upcoming 2013 season.
Spicer coached the Hillsboro Indians the past four seasons, as he resigned from the position following the '12 season.
Coach Spicer takes over for Keith Downing, who came out of retirement after the resignation of Scott Keller to take over during the season this past year for the Mustang program. Last season, Westfall went 9-2 overall and won the Scioto Valley Conference with a 7-0 mark. They lost in the opening round of the playoffs to Milton-Union, 46-14.
In '12, Westfall lost their first game of the year and followed that with nine straight wins, as they've won the past two SVC football titles, as they are losing a successful senior class due to graduation.

Spicer led the Indians from the '09 season through this past season with an overall record of 12-28.
His best season as the Indians' head coach was his very first season at HHS, when his team went 8-2 in '09. That was followed by seasons of 2-8, 2-8 and 0-10.
During his tenure at HHS, Spicer won two Rotary Bowls in '09 and '11 over rival McClain.
Spicer had previously been head football coach at East Canton, Marlington, Marietta and Albany High School in New York.
