Alec Smith, a graduate of Lynchburg-Clay High School and freshman at Morehead State University, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Southern State Community College.

“Alec is currently a pre-med major at Morehead State University and expressed an interest in transferring to Southern State Community College to take advantage of an athletic opportunity as well,” said Dr. J.R. Roush, SSCC Dean of Core Studies. “I had the opportunity to coach Alec in his earlier years and look forward to him joining Southern State.”

A combo forward for LCHS, Smith was named Southern Hills Athletic Conference (SHAC) All-League and District 14 All-District. He earned All-State honors, including No.1 in the state for Division III rebounding and 14th for blocked shots.
