Season three of Nike MLB City Connect series debuts April 8 in Atlanta; Reds to introduce uniforms May 19
Major League Baseball and Nike Monday announced the six participating clubs in this year’s City Connect uniform program, leading off with the Atlanta Braves, who unveiled their uniforms. The six clubs announced Monday will join the 14 clubs that launched their City Connect uniforms in 2021 and 2022, making a total of 20 clubs that will sport City Connect uniforms on field by season’s end.
Launched in 2021, the Nike MLB City Connect program was created to celebrate the bond between each Club and its city. This uniform series explores the personality, values and customs that make each community and their residents unique. Nike and MLB clubs partnered to design jerseys inspired by their cities to invigorate longtime baseball fans and invite more people into the game, expanding the future of the sport.
Season three of the Nike MLB City Connect Series will highlight six clubs across the U.S.: Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners, Cincinnati Reds, Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates. Nike MLB City Connect Series will be unveiled now through June.
Leading the 2023 City Connect Series will be the Atlanta Braves, whose jersey celebrates the enduring character and legacy of the one and only Hank Aaron. Inspired by the iconic 1974 Braves uniform, the modernized design pays tribute to the year that Aaron hit home run 715 to break Babe Ruth’s record and solidify his place among baseball royalty.
The classic jersey is reimagined with “The A” emblazoned across the chest, synonymous with Atlanta’s nickname and a visual representation of the Braves’ rallying cry “For The A.” Nods to Aaron throughout the jersey honor his legacy and impact on the Braves, Atlanta, Major League Baseball, and the country. “Over the course of its first two seasons, the Nike MLB City Connect Series has been the most successful consumer product initiative we’ve ever had,” said MLB Chief Revenue Officer Noah Garden. “The overwhelmingly positive response from our fans is clear when you see ballparks full of these distinct designs and colors. Our clubs have focused so much time and effort with Nike to create these exceptional uniforms for their fan bases, and it shows in every last detail. We look forward to seeing even more of our parks filled with City Connect jerseys this season.”
