WASHINGTON C.H. — Prelims of track events and some of the finals for the field events for the 2011 South Central Ohio League Championships were held on Tuesday.
All seven SCOL teams took part in Day 1 of the events, including Hillsboro and McClain of Highland County.
One final was the 4x800-meter runs for girls track, with London taking the top spot with a time of 10:32.05. HHS (Bailey Patton, Jamie Gustin, Hannah Opst and Maddie Colliver) was second at 10:46.59. McClain (Alyssa Anderson, Sammy Rooks, Kelly Mustard and Sarah Davis) was sixth at 11.48.76.
In the boy's 4x800m event, London won with a time of 8:16.34. HHS (Collin Rothwell, Rickey Coyle, Wyatt Gleadle and Jarrod Hart) finished in third at 8:44.81. MHS finished in fifth place at 9:04.13. Running for MHS were Jarred White, Sam Henry, Jimmy Free and Caleb Mootispaw.
Clinton-Massie's Zach Borton won the pole vault event with a height of 12-06.00. McClain's Aaron Pryor was second at 10-06.00 and Zach Murphy (MHS) was third at 10-06.00. Thomas Wilkin (HHS) was sixth at 10-00.00 Also for HHS, Paul Burton was 10th.
Logan Rowe of Washington won the girls high jump with a height of 5-02.00. Abby Storts (MHS) was fourth at 4-06.00. Taylor Stanforth (HHS) was tied for eighth at 4-02.00.
Derek Dingus (MP) won the boys long jump with a jump of 21-03.00. Pryor (MHS) was sixth at 18-08.00, and Jordan Goble (MHS) was seventh at 18-07.00. Jordan O'Conner (HHS) placed in eighth at 18-06.50, and Christian Wildey (HHS) placed 10th at 17-04.50.
In the girls shotput, Jessica Guyett of Washington won with a throw of 41-03.00. Tara Karnes of McClain was second at 35-11.50. Amelia Gustin (HHS) was fourth with a throw of 31-06.00. HHS's Sidney Applegate was eighth at 28-07.50. Ashley Dalton (MHS) was 13th with a throw of 22-06.00.
Washington's Riley Shaw won the discus event with a throw of 154-00. Britt Wells (HHS) was third (128-10), and Preston Wagner (MHS) placed fifth (122-04). Marco Hernandez (HHS) placed eighth at 107-07, and McClain's Chandler Wagner was 11th (100-09).
The finals of most track events and the remaining field events will be on Thursday at Washington.
